YOUR SAFETY

YOUR SAFETY WHILE WITH LAKELAND WANAKA

At Lakeland Wanaka, we love creating adventures you’ll never forget. Just as important as the thrill is your safety — every experience is carefully designed and delivered to meet strict safety standards, giving you confidence on the water.

POTENTIAL SAFETY CONSIDERATIONS

While extremely rare, there is always a possibility of serious accidents when participating in water-based activities. These could include capsizing, falling into the water, collisions, or injuries related to unexpected environmental conditions and unexpected movements.

PHYSICAL WELLBEING

Kayaking, paddle boarding, jet skis and other water activities may require moderate physical effort. Participants might experience muscle fatigue, strains, or discomfort from paddling or balancing. Falls into the water, while uncommon, can occur and may result in minor injury. Participants on Jet Skis and Jet Boats might experience minor discomforts or strains, particularly from dynamic boat manoeuvres or navigating the natural terrain of our location.

HEALTH CONSIDERATIONS

Cold Water: Lake Wanaka can be cold year-round, and sudden immersion may cause discomfort, shock, or hypothermia.

Remote Location: Some parts of the lake are relatively isolated, and in the unlikely event of a serious incident, medical assistance may take time to reach you.

Weather Conditions: Lake and alpine weather can change quickly. Wind, waves, or rain may add to the challenge and require additional precautions.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

Our activities are weather-dependent; we may cancel, postpone, or alter bookings if conditions are unsafe.

While we strive to accommodate a wide range of participants, certain health conditions or physical limitations may affect suitability. Please disclose any relevant concerns before your activity.

We place strong emphasis on environmental care and appreciate your support in keeping Lake Wanaka clean and protected.

SUMMARY

At Lakeland Wanaka, safety and well-being are top priorities. While extremely rare, risks include capsizing, cold water immersion, collisions, and delayed access to medical assistance due to our natural setting. Paddling activities may cause fatigue or minor strains, and weather changes can add challenges. We minimise these risks through thorough safety briefings, high-quality equipment, and trained guides. Our operations are always weather-dependent, with safety and environmental responsibility at the centre of everything we do.
