All jet ski hirers will need to demonstrate jet ski knowledge and safety, complete a full safety briefing and sign our hire agreements. Prior to any rental; the hirer must complete an online training course to demonstrate their obligations under Maritime Law as a skipper (please see below) All jet ski hires come on a trailer so a tow vehicle is required. Our safety procedures are of the highest standard both with our operation and safety briefings & screening processes. We also offer recreational boating training and have developed training courses in line with Maritime NZ to improve overall water safety.
Our jet skis are audited and checked at regular intervals and inspected annually by Maritime New Zealand authorised specialist.
Prior to your hire you will be required to complete our online training module for jet skiing. This will cover the basics of jet skiing and demonstrate your knowledge not just for jet skis but also your obligations under Maritime Law as a skipper. Put simply if you are unable to demonstrate safe operating will are unable to hire you a jet ski. In addition to the training module you will be given a safety briefing as part of your hire including the safety equipment onboard, lake hazards and general operating procedures.
Yes, our jet skis hires need to be booked at least 48 hours in advance.
No you do not require a jet ski licence, however you must have completed our online jet ski training module to demonstrate safe jet ski knowledge and your obligations under Maritime Law. All drivers/hirers must be 25 years or older and have previous experience. If you do not fall into this category no worries, check out our jet ski tours and operate your own jet ski in a supervised scenario.
If the weather isn't playing ball we will get in touch and let you know your options. The hire of our jet skis takes your experience into consideration, when we assess the weather so please make sure when you book you give us your correct contact information. Severely cold or strong winds may prevent operation regardless of your skill.
No, our jet ski hires are designed for daily hires. This allows us to maintain our high levels of safety on the water. Our jet skis also come on a trailer so short hires are not as manageable.
Our jet ski comes on a trailer so you do have options where you can take the jet ski. Our jet skis are permitted for use on Lake Wanaka, Lake Hawea, Lake Dunstan and Lake Wakatipu. No use is permitted on any river or in the ocean. As part of our hire process you will be required to give us your operating location in case of search and rescue.
